If you are looking for an ICT tool that allows learners to do real-time writing, to work collaboratively, to edit with ease, and FREE, then TitanPad is the one that can meet your expectation.
Here comes a tutorial video first!
See! It's straightforward and powerful! Just because of its simplicity, teachers can adapt it flexibly in different teaching/learning context. Like other online tools, TitanPad is not limited to time and space, and thus we can use it inside and outside the classroom as long as there are computers and the Internet connection at hand. My favorite feature on TitanPad is the EtherPad where we can check the process of editing. It's interesting to have au understanding of how the students work in the tasks.
Teachers can elaborate their knowledge and creativity to come up with some fantastic use of it.
Richard Byrne suggests that it be used as a tool for note taking.
Regarding English language classes, students and the teacher can utilise it to co-construct articles. At the beginner level, learners can create a story together by adding and editing sentences. Each member can contribute to the compilation of the story, and they can discuss the details in the chatbox there. In the process, learners interact frequently to ameliorate both the content and the language, and the teacher can provide scaffolding if required. Reading the final product, the teacher can track students' contribution as well. It is much more interesting than writing individually, especially when most learners have limited linguistic knowledge. Furthermore, according to students levels, the "goals" can vary from traditional stories to academic papers.

Hello James - firstly thank you very much for the mention. I'll be sure to promote your blog on my next post! I really liked how you set your post out, but by bringing in your own context it made the tool even more powerful. You also make some really useful points from the Teacher's perspective. G
